CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT LAKE SEMINOLE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

News from the

Christian Education Committee

The Wednesday Night Series for January and February focuses on Celebrating Our Creative Talents. We are fortunate to have Mrs. Jean Haythorn perform her talents on the piano, an event that will be both fun and inspiring, as Jean is 96 years young. The series continues with three lessons from Mrs. Margaret Steward on American Sign Language, with a guest appearance of her son, Robert, who has been legally deaf since infancy. Dennis Steward will present a quick course on basic computer skills on the 4th of February, and Eva Jones will engage us in the basics of acrylic painting using the Bob Ross method.  A fee for supplies may be collected for this course.

For Lent and Easter we are showing “The Fourth Wiseman”, a movie adaptation of Henry Van Dyke’s book “The Story of the Other Wiseman”, in 2 parts. Then we will view the 5 part video “The Life and Ministry of the Messiah”, the live and in-depth video tour of the buried, distant, or otherwise forgotten places where the stories of the Bible actually happened. This is another presentation by teacher and historian Ray Vander Laan, whose knowledge of the geography and history of this land and the various cultures brings the places, times and people of the Bible to life.
